Archivist
(Contract)

 

The Little Company of Mary wishes to appoint a contract archivist full-time for a period of six months (with
potential to be extended, depending on requirements).

Little Company of Mary (LCM)
The Little Company of Mary is an International Congregation of Roman Catholic religious women.
Little Company of Mary is a registered charity and the main objects of the charity are:

• To pray, give care and relief to those who are sick, suffering and dying.
• To advance the religious, social and charitable works carried on by the Congregation.
• To provide for the members throughout their lives within the Congregation.

The Archive
LCM’s archives are at two locations, one in Churchtown and one in Ballinteer.
The archives contain material relating to LCM activity in Ireland since the 19th Century. This consists of the
archives of Missions, LCM publications and newsletters, as well as oral history, film and photographic
collections.

Key Responsibilities
• Preserving, arranging and cataloguing the collections to ISAD(G) standard
• Dealing with researchers and facilitating access
• Digitisation of selected material
• Current records management
• Maintaining and developing policies
• Any other duties assigned by LCM

Requirements
• A recognized postgraduate qualification in archives and records management.
• Relevant work experience at professional level
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in working with archival management software
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Self- starter with the ability to work alone and as part of a team

Desirable
• Experience in working with religious archives
• Experience in working with a diversity of collection types
• Digitisation experience

Remuneration for this position will be in accordance with Archives & Records Association (ARA) salary
recommendations.
