‘Faith and Fun’ with Vocations Ireland at the National Ploughing Championships 2026
It may seem a bit strange to some that members of Vocations Ireland have a presence at the largest Ploughing event in Europe. The National Ploughing Championships take place from 15th to 17th September in Tullamore. For many years now, religious are in the midst of retailers, farmers, businesses of all kinds in the retail section of this event. For those who may be unaware, it takes place annually over three days, and has an average of 250,000 people attending from all parts of Ireland and abroad, young and not so young, of many faith traditions and none. The reason we are there is to promote vocations, offer a listening ear, and meet people of all ages. Promoting vocations may be a daunting task to many, however those who represent their various congregations have no problem talking to people about their lives in the hope that some may want to find out more.
The ‘Faith and Fun’ we bring to The Hub is evident by the smiles, laughter and genuine comments from those we meet. It is great to have a visible presence of religious from Apostolic, Missionary, Contemplative congregations, male and female. Members of 14 congregations over the 3 days will share prayer cards, gifts, information on religious life and offer a place for prayer requests to be left which will be given to our contemplative communities to pray for their needs.
