Jubilee of Consecrated Life Rome

From 6-13th AMRI (Staff) led a group of Religious Pilgrims to the Jubilee of Consecrated Life in Rome. The group was made up of religious from various congregations. They began their pilgrimage attending an event hosted by Ambassador Frances Collin’s (Irish Ambassador to the Holy See) marking four Founders causes underway for sainthood such as Mary Ward & Catherine Mc Auley.

On their second day Archbishop John Kennedy (Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith and originally from Dublin)celebrated mass for the group. He expressed his delight at hosting the group. Afterwards they attended the Papal Audience with Pope Leo XVI. Two of the group also got to greet Pope Leo.

On Thursday morning they attended mass celebrated by Pope Leo. Throughout the week the group also visited the various Holy Doors around Rome as well as participating in an evening prayer in St Peters. They also visited the tomb of the late Pope Francis in Mary Majors Basilica.

Another key part of the program was the Exhibition Daring to Hope – which was hosted by the Irish Palatines in St Sylvester’s Church. It was also extensivly promoted by the Dicastery for Consecrated Life and many attending evening prayer led by local Irish priest Fr Rory…?

After Sunday Mass in St Peter’s Square, the group returned tired but rejuvenated in faith. As one pilgrim shared, ‘Thanks for walking together in HOPE, together as we walked through the four holy doors, in caring, sharing, challenging and comforting one another. It was a grace-filled week, joyful and fraternal.’

The group will attend a reunion in Kimmage on 18th November.
