Open letter from Bertha Zúniga Cáceres,

General Coordinator of Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH) and daughter of murdered human rights defender, environmental activist and indigenous leader, Berta Cáceres. The letter is directed at EU decision makers and calls for a strong Corporate Sustainabiligy Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), that includes the financial sector and accessible civil liability. The aim of this Directive is to foster sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour and to anchor human rights and environmental considerations in companies’ operations and corporate governance. The new rules will ensure that businesses address adverse impacts of their actions, including in their value chains inside and outside Europe. See also: https://www.icbhr.org/
