Sisters Ministering in Ireland’s Prisons – Article in Global Sister Report
Prison Ministry has engaged a significant number of Irish women religious from several congregations in recent years. The Irish Prison Service’s 12 prisons’ employ 25 prison chaplains, 18 who are full time. Prison chaplains work with more that 4000 in custody as as well as care and pastoral support to more than 3400 prison staff. Many sisters work as volunteer chaplains.
