Archbishop O Reilly ‘Never underestimate the power of invitation to vocational discernment.’

On Saturday April 30th, in Whitefriar St, Church, Dublin, Vocations Ireland launched the Year of Vocation. Many religious, missionaries gathered in prayer. Music was led by members of the African Community. The chief celebrant was Archbishop Kieran O Reilly who spoke about the vocational call that all of us have. He reminded us of Jesus’ invitation To live life to the full.

He recalled the time he was invited by a local priest to consider priesthood-he noted it as a key moment of his life. Never underestimate the power of inviting people to priesthood, religious life. Never underestimate the importance of tapping a person on the shoulder. This is something that we can all do. We need to create Communities of faith to nurture the vocational call we all have. He quoted Pope Francis Image of the ‘vocational symphony’ we all have a part to play. Vocations Ireland will have various initiatives highlighting vocations during the year. A new Podcast series will be released later in May.
